Workshops

As part of our commitment to developing quality new poetry writing we host regular poetry workshops led by professional poets who are highly skilled in their craft.

Our last workshop was held in summer 2024 and led by the multi-award winning poet and author Emma Purshouse. Emma's workshop built on our strategic aim to create confidence in performing in our new local poets.

Freelance writerperformance poet and novelist. Emma Purshouse was the first Poet Laureate for the City of Wolverhampton (2020 – 2022). Emma performs her work nationally, and is a published author (writing both for adults and children) and poetry slam champion. She has a degree in English, and an MA in creative writing, enjoys writing flash fiction and has won, been placed, shortlisted, longlisted and commended in various writing competitions. In 2022 Emma came 3rd in the National Poetry Competition. Emma is also an experienced workshop facilitator.

Details of our next workshop will be posted here soon.

We also recently held a workshop by TS Eliot-prize shortlisted poet Mark Pajak.  Mark's workshop was heavily discounted to enable access for all, and was an astonishing primal leap into imagery and the subliminal connections that are made in the most striking poetry.
